Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center Renovation, Athens, TX
September 2024
Project Background
Located on a sprawling ranch outside Tyler, TX, this project involved revitalizing three one-acre ponds originally built in the 1980s. Years of sediment buildup had reduced water capacity, and poor drainage led to shoreline erosion.
Years of sediment buildup had reduced water capacity, and poor drainage led to shoreline erosion. Our team dredged and reshaped the pond to restore depth and improve water quality, creating ideal conditions for fish stocking and wildlife habitation. We installed a new overflow system and reinforced the banks with erosion control measures, ensuring long-term sustainability. Today, the renovated pond serves as both a natural habitat and a recreational feature for fishing and wildlife observation.
